Credit Repair Fundamentals

Find out more about credit repair before you apply. We'll explain the basics of the ABC's of Credit Repair and how it works here.

Foundation of Credit Repair

Some consumers wonder if credit repair is even legal because, like many, they are under the impression that the information contained in credit reports is permanent and irrefutable. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. The law actually gives consumers the right to challenge and remove misleading, inaccurate, untimely, or questionable information from their credit reports. Such information cannot legally exist on your credit report if the credit bureau cannot verify the accuracy of the disputed item. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is an important piece of legislation and forms the foundation of the ABC's of Credit Repair. This legislation affords you the right to an accurate credit report.

How the ABC's of Credit Repair Can Help

The ABC's of Credit Repair can help you remove questionable derogatory items from your credit report, which will, in turn, improve your credit score. At the ABC's of Credit Repair, we have helped almost a half a million customers clean up their credit reports with credit repair. Just last year, we helped our customers remove over 600,000 questionable derogatory items from their credit reports. Here are just a few of the two million negative items we have removed from credit reports in our almost 20-year credit repair services career:

  • Bankruptcies
  • Liens
  • Foreclosures
  • Charge-offs
  • Collections
  • Repossessions
  • Late payments
  • Judgments

How It Works: Four Steps

The ABC's of Credit Repair program can be summed up in four simple steps:

  1. You forward your credit reports to the ABC's of Credit Repair. The process begins when you pass along your credit reports from all three credit bureaus to us. We can help you get your free reports if you don't already have them.
  2. You pick the items you want to dispute. Using our online disputation manager, you can electronically select the items on your credit report you would like to dispute after we enter your information in our database.
  3. We get to work. This is where we begin filing disputes with the credit bureaus and following up to make sure the bureau is responding appropriately. The ABC's of Credit Repair might repeat this step depending on how many items you would like to dispute.
  4. Wait for results. The bureau must respond to your dispute within 30 days. You will receive an updated credit report that you will forward to the ABC's of Credit Repair once the dispute concludes.
